Weightless White Dancers

“For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.  For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.  But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.”
-2 Peter 1:5-9

Out I look at a creek moving toward the direction of a setting sun.  It flows through a forest full of weightless white dancers, each unique.  As the wind blows, they swirl and twirl in a pattern all their own.  Yet, some collide forming a large ensemble intensifying their visibility to observers.  The clouds make way for rays of sun to strobe light, causing the flakes to shimmer radiantly.  They glide up, down, around, twirling and hurling until they reach the forest floor below or the stream heading toward the setting sun.

In and out, goes the sun nevertheless, always present only hidden by the same substance that made these inimitable falling dancers.  Ding, ding, ding goes the chime producing a song to the dance of the winter wind, the wind that gives life to the white dancers.  It is slow and steady now, the wind, as the new season comes earlier than most.  Gently, the chime taps making a noise only loud enough to be heard by those who slow to listen, wait, and search for its beauty.

Who knows where the wind will blow and what beat the chime will sound moving the radiant dancers about.  So it is in our lives, the road ahead is uncertain even in our confidence.  Tomorrow, the weather may turn and melt our dreams away or it could build them up by liquefying and reforming them into a greater purpose than we could have fathomed.  The heat can ruin or strengthen us.  We get to choose, to persevere and find hope or to fade into despair.

I will choose to dance regardless of tomorrow's mystery.   I will dance with joy and if our paths collide hopefully you will join the joyful dance of love too.  We could share The Love with those who look on inquisitively and, bring beauty to the brokenness.  We all possess a special gift to bring to the glorious ensemble of our Lord.   All are welcome in this dance of thanksgiving.

Then, when the weather turns against our desires, trust the Lord knows what he is doing and let Him reshape you into something more brilliant.  Even if the heat feels like it will be the death of you.  For, some days he just calls us to endure and trust Him.  And once our Father decides our time has set and calls us home to be with his Son, you can say we went dancing love with a smile ready to see His face.

Your dance matters.  We all have a gift to bring before the king no matter how inadequate we may think it is or we are.

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.  Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.  And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.  Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.  But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
-Romans 5:1-8
